UA dramatic accident rocked Pollena Trocchia, on Via Mazzini, near the border with Sant'Anastasia. Ten-year-old Manuel suffered severe burns to his legs after a car parked on the sidewalk suddenly caught fire.
The fire, with flames several meters high, engulfed the child while he was walking with some friends in an area that should have been safe. According to the mother's complaint, the car belonged to an auto electrician who operates illegally, occupying the sidewalk with vehicles being repaired.
The woman, who filed a complaint with the Carabinieri, reported obvious oil and fuel leaks from the car, a known but ignored danger. "My son was engulfed in high flames while walking on the sidewalk," the mother stated.
The little boy was admitted to Santobono with serious burns.
“Manuel is now hospitalized at Santobono with serious burns to the legs. That auto repair shop, despite the reports, continues to operate. I demand justice."
The matter was brought to the attention of Francesco Emilio Borrelli, a member of the Green-Side Alliance, who has long been active in combating the illegal occupation of public land by unauthorized workshops.
"This incident is unacceptable," commented Borrelli. "Mechanics that transform sidewalks into car parks violate safety regulations and put human lives at risk. It is intolerable that, despite complaints, these activities continue unpunished. We demand the immediate closure of the workshop involved and rigorous inspections throughout the country."
The incident reignites the debate about the need for urgent action to combat illegal activities that compromise public safety, especially for the most vulnerable, like little Manuel.

The accident was very unfortunate and makes us reflect on how badly parked cars can cause serious problems. Children should play safely and avoid being burned by high flames. It's important to be vigilant in these situations.
