An armed raid on the home of the 'Clean Hands' representative sparked terror in Sorrento overnight.

Sorrento – A full-blown act of intimidation, a typically Camorra-style raid that erupts in the heart of the Sorrento Peninsula, historically considered an oasis of tranquility. Last night, an armed commando arrived at the home of Michelangelo Scannapieco, local representative of the National Association "Clean Hands." This unprecedented episode adds to an alarming picture of direct threats and open challenges to institutions.

The reconstruction and the images from the cameras

The raid took place in the dark of night. At least three people approached the building occupied by Scannapieco and his family. Among them, as documented by video surveillance footage, a man was clearly holding a gun. The faces of the commando members appeared clearly in the high-definition footage from the private security system.

Scannapieco promptly filed a detailed complaint with the Sorrento Carabinieri, attaching all the video and photographic material to support the investigation.

The investigations

According to what the anti-mafia official himself revealed on his social media channels, investigators are already close to closing the loop on those responsible: nine individuals have already been identified, including the perpetrators and alleged instigators of the intimidating attack.

The documents are now before the magistrates of the Torre Annunziata Public Prosecutor's Office, coordinated by the Chief Prosecutor, from whom formal precautionary measures are expected in the coming days.

The activist expressed anger over the incident in a harsh public outburst, denouncing a climate of silence and disinterest surrounding the matter:

"Isn't a Gomorrah-style 'squashing' in Sorrento newsworthy? Where are the media, the institutions, and all those who claim to love this land?" Scannapieco attacked. "This is a devastating incident, with death threats and armed men outside a private residence. The problem doesn't concern me or my family, whom we will protect together with the Carabinieri: it concerns the entire community. When violence arrives on the doorstep of citizens, silence is no longer an acceptable response."

The reaction of the institutions

The Mayor of Sorrento, Corrado Fattorusso, promptly intervened in the matter, contacting Scannapieco by telephone to express his full solidarity and to offer the municipal structure for any security and support needs. The "Clean Hands" representative also offered words of profound commendation to the Carabinieri of the city's Carabinieri unit, who responded promptly and professionally to the scene of the incident to begin the initial and essential forensic investigations.
