Report: Ranucci out and new show format

If an agreement on the new format is not reached, Peter Gomez, Riccardo Iacona, and Federico Ruffo are in the running to host.

Today, a crucial meeting will be held regarding the fate of Sigfrido Ranucci and Report. Ranucci's fate, however, appears sealed: the journalist and deputy director of RAI will certainly be removed from the program's hosting duties.

Editorially, RAI has ruled out Ranucci's continued leadership of Report due to "a matter of expediency." And the decision, according to leaks, is not influenced, at this point, by the legal proceedings involving the journalist following the attack he was the victim of and the arrest of Valter Lavitola as the instigator.

The matter is also moving forward on a disciplinary level. This is linked, but not limited to, the recommendations from the Ethics Committee. The journalist is expected to receive three offers for positions equivalent to his professional qualifications, which would keep him within RAI. Regarding the hosting of Report, however, following Milena Gabanelli's rejection, Peter Gomez, Riccardo Iacona, and Federico Ruffo are among the candidates for the hosting post.

But Rai executives are also considering changing the format to an 'internal' Report model: that is, no 'official' host, but investigations launched from time to time by one or more professionals present on the program.
