A night of chaos and lawlessness in the heart of Naples, where Piazza Mercato was once again transformed into an illegal racetrack for young scooter riders. Documenting the situation was a video shot by a resident and sent to the Green-Left Alliance MP, Francesco Emilio Borrelli.

The images, taken around midnight, show children—some of whom are believed to be no older than 10 or 12—speeding without helmets, performing maneuvers that are dangerous to themselves and others. According to local reports, the phenomenon isn't limited to weekends, but occurs consistently throughout the year, lasting until 3 a.m.

The provocation to the military

In addition to violating the traffic code, the complete lack of fear towards law enforcement is of great concern. The youngsters do not hesitate to directly provoke the Army patrols deployed in Operation Alto Impatto, moving with a clear sense of impunity.

The attack on families and the requests for intervention

MP Francesco Emilio Borrelli spoke out harshly on the episode, underlining the gravity of the social context:

What emerges from these images is disheartening. We're talking about children who should be protected and educated, not left on the streets, turning public squares into dangerous playgrounds. This represents, first and foremost, the failure of an inadequate parenting system. The provocation of the military, forced to remain unarmed, is unacceptable, portraying juvenile delinquents in the wrong light. We need effective controls and immediate interventions for families.
