In the hours following the tragedy, the grief over the death of Manuela Chiarolanza, the 16-year-old student who was killed in the tragic accident that occurred late yesterday evening on the coastal strip of Giugliano, is evident in the boyfriend's words, in the photos shared on social media, and in the memories of friends.

Her 18-year-old boyfriend can't accept the loss that came too soon. He shares his final farewells on his Instagram stories, a farewell made of broken words and memories that become even more painful in the face of the irreversibility of death.

"I will miss you forever, imprinted like this in my heart, my love. Nothing worse could have happened to me," the boy writes.

Then the memory of their life together, of the happy moments, of the days spent laughing and joking: "I will carry you forever on my skin, in my heart, and in the most beautiful and crazy memories we had. You were everything to me, I feel nothing without you."

Words that speak of the void left by Manuela, a girl who until a few hours earlier was there, beside the people she loved, and who now lives only in the memories of those who loved her.

"Love, it wasn't supposed to be this way."

Rosa, the mother of Manuela's boyfriend, also took to social media to express her grief. A long, intense message recounts the encounters, hugs, and bond she had built with the girl she now felt was part of her family.

"Love, it wasn't supposed to be this way. Life has already put you to the test too many times and has been hard on you," Rosa writes, recalling a recent meeting: "We saw each other again sitting at the table, hugging, and you said beautiful things to me."

Then a tender, almost daily memory, linked to Prince, Manuela's dog: "You loved Prince more than me, but you told me... and I smiled at you because Prince is the most beautiful thing that ever happened to me and I was happy to see you happy when you saw him."

Finally, his thoughts went to the girl's family: "Now, from up there, watch over your loved ones, especially Mom, Dad, and your little brother, who are now lost without you."

"She was wonderful, a very sweet character."

Grief also affects the school, friends, and families who knew Manuela. The portrait that emerges is that of a cheerful, sunny, and affectionate sixteen-year-old. A fourth-year student at the Vilfredo Pareto Technical Institute in Pozzuoli, she, those who knew her, say loved being with others.

"Two days ago, she was with my son at Fusaro, laughing and joking. It's unacceptable," says Francesca, the mother of a classmate of the sixteen-year-old. "She was wonderful, incredibly sweet, and good at school."

A memory that makes it even more difficult to accept a tragedy that occurred when Manuela still had her whole life ahead of her.

The crash in the night

The accident occurred on Via Madonna del Pantano, along the road connecting the villages of Varcaturo and Licola. Manuela was riding a scooter with an 18-year-old friend when the vehicle collided with a car.

The crash was extremely violent. There was nothing that could be done for Manuela. Her friend was seriously injured and is in intensive care at Pozzuoli Hospital, where she is fighting for her life.

Police investigations

The driver of the car, who was in shock, was taken to Giugliano Hospital and underwent the required tests, which were negative.
