A wave of severe weather hits Campania: a yellow alert has been issued for thunderstorms and hail.

This afternoon will be marked by severe weather instability across much of Campania. The Campania Region Civil Protection Functional Center has issued a Yellow critical weather warning, effective from 13:00 PM until 21:00 PM today, Thursday, September 3.

The bulletin covers almost the entire region, with the sole exception of Zone 4 (Alta Irpinia and Sannio) and Zone 7 (Tanagro). Experts predict the rapid development of localized showers and thunderstorms, which, despite their brief duration, could become severe. Associated risks include violent hailstorms, lightning strikes, and sudden gusts of wind, capable of damaging temporary structures and roofs.

The Unified Operations Room (SORU) has already issued an alert to all affected municipalities, highlighting the concrete risk of hydrogeological disasters. Possible scenarios include:

Flooding of underground spaces and roads;
Rapid rise in water levels and possible flooding;
Landslides and rockfall in areas characterized by highly fragile soil.

Local authorities and competent authorities have been asked to activate municipal Civil Protection plans, adopting all necessary measures to prevent and mitigate any damage. Particular attention is recommended for the management of public green spaces and the safety of structures exposed to wind stress.
