Jewelry store burglarized: owner chases thieves but crashes into wall; hunt for gang

The hunt is on for the gang of thieves who robbed a jewelry store in Telese Terme, in the Benevento area, overnight. The raid, carried out in the dead of night, resulted in the serious injury of the business owner, who attempted to chase the thieves after surprising them inside the store.

The woman, a married mother of five, lives a few meters from the jewelry store. The business alarm triggered her to spring from her bed. She rushed out of her home and drove to the store in her car, repeatedly honking the horn in an attempt to scare the thieves away.

The criminals fled with the loot

When the woman arrived, the thieves were already inside the jewelry store. They were ransacking the merchandise displayed in the windows and, according to preliminary investigations, were also preparing to break into the safe.

The owner's reaction reportedly forced them to speed up their escape. The thieves, perhaps four in number, got into a car and sped away, with the doors still open. During their escape, they also reportedly lost some recently stolen jewelry along the way.

The total amount stolen has yet to be precisely quantified, but the value of the goods is believed to be around 50 thousand euros.

The chase and the crash

The jeweler didn't give up and attempted to reach the car used by the gang in her own car. The chase, however, lasted only a few moments: the woman lost control of the car and crashed violently into a wall.

The impact caused her serious injuries. Emergency medical services responded to the scene and initially transported her to the San Pio Hospital in Benevento. Given the seriousness of her condition, she was transferred to the Cardarelli Hospital in Naples.

His condition is said to have improved slightly, but the prognosis remains guarded.

The Carabinieri arrived at the scene of the theft and began an investigation to identify the gang members and reconstruct in detail all the stages of the raid and subsequent escape.

Investigators are acquiring and reviewing video surveillance footage from the jewelry store and from public and private facilities in the area. The goal is to reconstruct the criminals' route and identify any evidence that could help identify them.

The news of the jeweler's serious injury has deeply shocked the community of Telese Terme. The attack on the jewelry store and, more importantly, the dramatic chase sequence have caused great concern among residents.
