Rail traffic on the Circumvesuviana between the San Giovanni and Torre del Greco stations was suspended due to a power outage on the overhead line. The event caused significant disruption to hundreds of commuters, many of whom gathered on the sidewalks of Via Marconi in Torre del Greco, near the central station.
The situation required the intervention of the municipal police to limit traffic disruptions caused by the massive influx of waiting passengers. The Ente Autonomo Volturno (EAV) announced that the disruption was caused by an injury to one of its workers working in San Giorgio a Cremano.
In the meantime, replacement bus services have been set up to ensure connections between the affected cities and Naples. The company has assured that rail services will be restored as soon as possible, but has not provided a specific timeframe for the service's resumption.
