Hundreds of people checked in stations in Campania: two arrested and four reported.
This is the outcome of the fifth Rail safe day operation of this year, which took place yesterday, 22 June, in the main stations of Campania and on board regional and long-distance trains.
The operation, which involved over 90 men and women of the Railway Police of the Polfer Department of Naples, was ordered by the Railway Police Service, simultaneously, throughout the national territory, with the aim of countering anomalous behavior in the railway sector such as crossing tracks, boarding or disembarking from moving trains, undue presence on the railway line, crossing closed or moving level crossings which often cause railway accidents. In the end, the result was 2 arrests 4 reported, 957 people checked; 40 security services and stations manned; 7 on-board train services for a total of 11 convoys checked.
Two Georgians, aged 30 and 29, were arrested at the Naples Central station for aggravated theft. In particular, the police stopped the two foreigners after receiving a report from Trenitalia staff. When checked, one of the two was found in possession of a watch still equipped with an anti-theft device, as well as scissors and penknives. Both individuals, with specific criminal records, were transferred to the local security cells Police Headquarters waiting for the very direct rite.

During the control activities at the Naples Central station, the Polfer operators were assisted by a unit of the Guardia di Finanza's Pronto Impiego Dog Squad and by two dog units from the local Police Headquarters.
The checks were carried out in collaboration with Ferrovie Italiane staff from the local Corporate Protection office who, through the use of a cutting-edge video surveillance system, efficiently monitored the flow of travellers.
