Crowds, endless queues, furious fans forced to stay without any social distancing and then entering during the match: the championship has started badly for the Napoli fans.
Even though Spalletti's team closed the match against the newly promoted to Serie A Venezia with a 2-0, outside the Diego Armando Maradona stadium a real defeat has occurred. Thousands of fans were in fact forced to crowd together for hours and hours waiting to be able to access the inside without the anti-covid protocols being respected in the slightest. This is, however, a real paradox as the stadium capacities were reduced by 50% precisely to enforce the necessary distancing and entry was reserved only for Green Pass Holders.
“I go to the stadium more than 2 and a half hours early, queuing to access the lower B curve.
An absurd line, with only one gate open and stewards of unspeakable slowness. Result: people crowded together, suffocating heat and anger on the part of many fans. But it doesn't end there: having entered even 5 minutes late (and I was lucky), I barely find a seat... reason?
The lower sectors of Curva A and Distinti were closed, consequently leading people to buy tickets only for the lower B and thus creating a huge gathering both inside and outside, not to mention all those fans with masks under their chins. I'm shocked! In the face of anti-covid rules.
I hope this situation doesn't happen again. I wanted to enjoy an evening with my father at the stadium hoping that the rules would be respected... I bitterly regretted it, convinced that they would have taken correct measures by staggering the various sectors and instead two sectors closed and everyone crowded into one", says one of the many fans who turned to the Regional Councillor of Europa Verde Francesco Emilio Borrelli.
“Truly absurd. We sent a note to the Municipality, to Calcio Napoli and to the Police Headquarters to ask for clarifications on what went wrong in the organization of the safety devices. Limiting the capacity of the stadium and allowing access only to those who had shown the green pass are paradoxes if then a situation of gatherings like this was allowed to take place. We ask that we be provided with explanations for these organizational choices and that maximum safety be ensured for the next home games otherwise, if a high level of safety cannot be guaranteed, the stadiums must be closed again”, said Councilor Borrelli.
