Unimusic Festival reaches its third edition. The music and culture festival for Naples, conceived and created by New Scarlatti Orchestra in partnership with theFederico II University, starts with two major inaugural events: Symphonic Concert of the Scarlatti Junior Orchestra, Friday September 10; And "Naples Capital”, concert of the Nuova Orchestra Scarlatti with the participation of the bass Filippo Morace, Sunday September 12.
The Festival programme, which includes musical events until 2 October, therefore begins on Friday September 10th 2021 at 19.30 pm, in the Courtyard of the Statues of Federico II, in Naples in Via Paladino 39, where the Symphonic Concert of the Scarlatti Junior Orchestra will be held: the 146 very young elements of the Junior, divided into two orchestral groups directed by Maestro Gaetano Russo, and by the young Federica Di Vaio and Giuseppe Galiano, will alternate on stage in a program full of suggestions, ranging from Te Deum di Carpenter a My Fair Lady, Nimrod di Elgar to the Symphony from Verdi's Joan of Arc. The two groups will then join together in the finale with a dreamy Notturno and a captivating one marcia nuziale from the music for the Shakespearean A Midsummer Night's Dream di F. Mendelssohn.
Sunday September 12th 2021 at 19.30 pm, always in the beautiful setting of the Courtyard of the Statues, it will be the turn of "Naples Capital”, a varied and captivating programme proposed by the Nuova Orchestra Scarlatti among pages of the greats of Neapolitan musical civilisation, from Alessandro Scarlatti a Draw; from Cimarosa, with his Choirmaster, a masterpiece of musical irony from the late 700th century, to the brilliant characteristic Symphony of Mercadante; and finally a hilarious Donizetti, Neapolitan by adoption.
An event not to be missed that will see the Neapolitan bass as the vocal protagonist in Cimarosa and Donizetti Philip Morace, appreciated on the Italian and international scene for his verve and versatility as an interpreter, ranging from 700th century Neapolitan music to Mozart, from Rossini to Britten; at the head of the Nuova Orchestra Scarlatti, Luigi DeFilippi as first concert violin.
September 19th, Courtyard of the Statues: Tango Sensations, music by Gardel and Piazzolla with the Nuova Orchestra Scarlatti and Luigi De Filippi violin soloist and conductor.
September 23th, Courtyard of the Statues: Concert by the Scarlatti Young Orchestra, music by Schubert and others.
September 24th, San Marcellino Complex of Federico II: Sounds from Europe, an event on the occasion of the “Researchers’ Night”.
September 26th, Church of SS. Marcellino and Festo: Interplay, a rare and enjoyable program for four clarinets performed by the Strange Clarinet Quartet.
The Festival closes on 2 October in the Courtyard of the Statues with another important event: Mozart's Sisters, an excursus through female musical creativity, from Clara Schumann to Sofia Gubajdulina, with the Nuova Orchestra Scarlatti conducted by Beatrice Venezi.
The Festival programme is enriched by Open Music, open rehearsals of the chamber groups of the Scarlatti Orchestra Community, on September 17 and 28 at the Church of SS. Marcellino and Festo; and by the Musica & Musei initiative, in collaboration with the Federico II Scientific Museums. With concert tickets, free entry to the museums on September 16, 23 and 30, 2021 from 09.00 to 13.30.
