The mayor of Santa Maria Capua Vetere, Antonio Mirra, will be the Democratic Party's presidential candidate for the provincial elections in Caserta.
The Democrats officially announced it after a meeting of local leaders. The 'split' in the Centre-left was therefore confirmed.
The Moderate groups, Italia Viva and Noi Campani, close to the president of the Region Vincenzo De Luca, will in fact support Giorgio Magliocca, outgoing president and now ex Forza Italia. A choice, that of the PD, which immediately generated consequences.
Marcello De Rosa, mayor of Casapesenna, who had proposed himself as a presidential candidate for the December 18 elections, is leaving the party.
"With great regret I have matured the decision to leave the Democratic Party that has represented my history, my political beliefs and my daily commitment. With serenity and relief, on the contrary, I distance myself from false friends and companions who navigate in ambiguity and in the game of personal interests”, he declared after Mirra's official announcement.
Along with Magliocca and Mirra himself, Stefano Giaquinto, mayor of Caiazzo, representing the Centre-Right, is also competing for the presidency.
