Caserta. “The delays in the works for the reopening of the railway bridge on the A1 and the construction of the motorway toll booth at Maddaloni on the A30 they seriously damage the efficiency of the Maddaloni-Marcianise interport.
They are strategic infrastructures for the Caserta area and Campania, blocked however by unacceptable bureaucratic delays”. The complaint of the Caserta secretary of the Filt-Cgil transport union Angelo Lustro, who has been sending letters to the institutions for some time, starting with the Prefecture, to urge the construction of the two works that should facilitate the intermodal system of the Maddaloni-Marcianise interport and above all ensure that development that has never happened, addresses the two most important infrastructure issues.
The least complex case is that of the Railway Bridge on the A1, intended for freight trains going to the interport; 22 months ago a convoy derailed damaging the structure, which was then seized by the judiciary and only a few months released to allow the work to be carried out which should lead to the reopening by June; but in the meantime rail traffic has had enormous pressure and problems, "since freight trains, in the absence of the bridge, are forced to pass through CASERTA creating a funnel effect" explains Lustro.
“Twenty-two months between the intervention of the Prosecutor's Office and the works are too many, the bureaucracy must adapt to the fast pace of economic exchanges”. More complex is the issue of the toll booth on the A30 that should exit right at the interporto.
"We have been waiting for years - says Lustro - for the Superintendency to decide on the merits of a tomb found in the construction site area. Why all this time? Now more than ever - adds Lustro - the future is at stake, especially for the works and projects planned for Southern Italy.
The works are already conditioned by the reduction of funds allocated under the Pnrr: funds for over 60% were foreseen, then only 40% were allocated by the Government and of these in the end, compared to the Government's programs, we are now at 20%. Think of Healthcare, School, Transport and Road Infrastructure, Digitalization: in our country the planned works are mostly in the north and center of the country.
The South must be seen as an opportunity for growth and development for all of Italy and not as a problem" concludes Angelo Lustro.
