Naples. No reduction in sentence for Mariano Cannio accused of having made little Samuele fall from the balcony of his parents' house in via Foria: for him 18 years in prison.
The preliminary hearing judge of Naples Nicoletta Campanaro decided this at the end of a trial held with the abbreviated rite. The 39-year-old domestic worker held responsible for the murder of little Samuele, the 4-year-old boy who was dropped into the void on September 17, 2021, from the balcony of his parents' house, in via Foria, in Naples.
The same sentence requested by the deputy prosecutor Barbara Aprea, who charged the defendant (suffering from psychiatric pathologies but considered capable of understanding and willing) with the crime of aggravated homicide.
Cannio (defended by the lawyer Maria Assunta Zotti) was cleaning the house of the little victim's parents (assisted by the lawyer Domenico De Rosa) on the day Samuele fell.

During today's hearing, lawyer Zotti did not exclude the theory of the accident, that is, that the child may have leaned out after climbing on some object that was on the balcony.

Cannio also made guilty pleas in relation to Samuele's death, which however, according to the defense attorney, could also have been induced by his client's precarious state of health.
