The Municipal Police of Napoli, over the last weekend in compliance with the recent ordinance, which prohibited the circulation of tourist buses in the Historic Center.
The ban in force on holidays and pre-holidays until 8/1/2023, and the establishment of reserved parking areas and spaces for stopping, in order to allow passengers to get on and off, has arranged several checkpoints to ensure compliance with the rules on the city territory.
The check of 49 tourist buses allowed us to ascertain and sanction 36 irregularities for violations of the Highway Code, of which 6 to bus drivers who were caught inside the area prohibited by the Ordinance without the required authorization.
In the area of non-scheduled public transport, checks have been intensified in the city area, in conjunction with the increase in tourist presence that characterizes the Christmas period. Checks in the areas of the Historic Center and the airport, railway and port terminals have allowed us to ascertain that nine drivers of vehicles used for rental with driver were circulating without the service sheet certifying the transport reservation.
For this violation, the vehicles were subjected to administrative seizure and the offenders received a fine of 173 euros. Two drivers of vehicles used for chauffeur-driven rental were caught carrying out the activity with an expired professional qualification certificate, while a third offender was driving a vehicle that had not undergone the required annual inspection.
Six drivers of cars registered for personal use were intercepted while illegally carrying out the business of rental with driver, carrying out transfer services for tourists from the airport to some non-hotel facilities in the historic center. The vehicles were subjected to administrative detention.
Three taxi drivers were fined for violating the provisions of the municipal regulation. In particular, one was caught performing the service outside of his shift, another had not displayed the tariff available to users on board and the third because he had requested an unjustifiably increased fare.
In addition, two taxi drivers were fined for not having submitted their vehicles to the required annual inspection and two others were fined for refusing to accept electronic payment, via POS, for the trips made. The violations committed by the taxi drivers were reported to the competent municipal office for the imposition of disciplinary sanctions.
In the area of the Central Station in Piazza Garibaldi, patrols of the motorized unit of the Territorial Intervention Group together with personnel of the Italian Army carried out checks to combat violations of the Highway Code, carrying out 24 checks and issuing 6 reports for various violations such as the lack of insurance coverage, driving without a protective helmet, irregularities in circulation documents, parking and other illegal conduct, in addition to the administrative seizure/confiscation of 1 vehicle and the removal of 5 vehicles with a crane truck.
