The Civil Protection of the Campania Region has issued a warning weather alert for rain and storms with a yellow hydrogeological criticality level valid from midnight to 23.59pm tomorrow, Thursday 26 January.
These are the areas affected: 1 (Piana Campana, Naples, islands of the Gulf of Naples, Vesuvian Area), 3 (Penisola Sorrentino-Amalfi, Monti di Sarno and Monti Picentini), 6 (Piana Sele and Alto Cilento). In these areas, showers and thunderstorms are expected, which in some parts of the territory could also be intense.
Storm phenomena, in fact, will be characterized by rapid evolution (therefore being sudden but intense) and may be accompanied by lightning, hail and gusts of wind.
Among the main event scenarios connected to hydrogeological risk, the following are highlighted: occasional landslides and possible rockfalls due to particularly fragile conditions also linked to soil saturation; rising water levels of watercourses; flooding of underground and ground-floor rooms; surface flow of water on roadways; surface runoff with possible material transport phenomena.
Due to the particular type of phenomena expected, gusts of wind and hailstorms will be possible: damage to temporary structures (scaffolding or structures exposed to wind stress); falling branches or trees; damage to roofs (due to hail).
