Yesterday afternoon, officers from the Campania Crime Prevention Department and the General Prevention Office, on the orders of the Operations Centre, intervened in Piazza Cenni because a motorist had reported a car with five people on board who were responsible for the “mirror scam”.
The police located the reported car with the people on board in via Taddeo da Sessa and stopped them, finding the driver in possession of 1100 euros.
Furthermore, they ascertained that the same man, after having hit the mirror of the victim's car to simulate the breaking of his own, had forced her to stop by threatening to pay him money as compensation for the alleged damage suffered; finally, he had snatched 100 euros from her hands and then got back in the car and drove away.
RP, a 36-year-old from Pomigliano with a criminal record, was arrested for robbery, while the four passengers, aged 26, 34, 37 and 41, were reported for the same crime; finally, the 36-year-old and the 41-year-old were also reported for failure to comply with the ban on returning to the Municipality of Naples to which they are subject.
