At the Genovesi Da Vinci high school in Salerno, the presentation of the book: “Pasolini. A case never closed” by Stefano Maccioni, the lawyer who obtained the reopening of the investigation.

In the Aula Magna of the ISS “Genovesi-Da Vinci” in Salerno, this morning there was the presentation of the book “Pasolini, un caso mai chiusi” (Round Robin Editore) written by the lawyer Stefano Maccioni and focused on the murder of the writer, poet and director Pier Paolo Pasolini which occurred on the night between 1 and 2 November 1975, a crime which to this day has remained unpunished and on which no real light has ever been shed and the circumstances of which have never been fully clarified.
The event was organized in close synergy with the Lions District 108YA, with the Leo District 108YA and with the Fondazione Cassa Rurale di Battipaglia which is a partner of the initiative.
The journalist Stefano Pignataro discussed with the author, accompanied by the interventions of those present. The meeting was moderated by Professor Pina Masturzo.

Stefano Maccioni, criminal lawyer and author. In 2009 he requested and obtained the reopening of the investigation into the Pasolini murder. He was a member of the Ministerial Commission for the protection of crime victims. Awarded by the Council of the Order of Lawyers of Rome for his social and civil commitment, he participated as a civil party defender in numerous trials including: the murder of Stefano Cucchi, the Viareggio massacre, “Mafia Capitale”, “Sangue Infetto” and the murder of vice brigadier Mario Cerciello Rega.

The book retraces the most controversial and unclear events surrounding the death of Pier Paolo Pasolini. An immersive journey through old, almost forgotten files that chronologically take us back in time about 50 years. There is much documentary evidence and testimonies collected and made available to investigators.

"This is a story that is part of our country, a case closed hastily and that still requires a truth - said the lawyer Maccioni during the presentation of the book -. I will be frank, today I came here because I intend to exploit you, I have a son of your age who will soon reach maturity and to whom I have made a lot of head in these years.
To solve the “cold cases” - a term which this legally falls under - we need to trace the motive.”

The author then told some background information on the investigation: “In the past, scientific tests were not carried out because the technology of the time did not allow for the collection of DNA samples. One of the first questions we must ask ourselves about the Pasolini case focuses precisely on the alleged murderer Piero Pelosi. A character who repeatedly recanted his version, thus qualifying himself as a perfect mislead in this story. Pelosi, when he was arrested for driving the Alfa Romeo GT in the wrong direction, first declared that he had lost his ring, an object of little value but which he cared about a lot. The police, and this is the most surprising thing, immediately set out to find it. The ring was found near Pasolini's body, since at the time it was not possible to carry out scientific tests, the only evidence to incriminate a person was his direct admission of guilt or the discovery of the object itself at the crime scene. Pelosi later pleaded guilty, providing a far-fetched account of self-defense in connection with an attempted sexual assault by the director.
Pasolini was a man with a strong physique, a man who knew how to fight, and Pelosi could not find any obvious traces of a probable fight other than a wound on the nasal septum that he had suffered while driving the Alfa due to a sudden stop at the moment of his stop. Also worthy of attention is the testimony of the restaurateur where Pasolini and Pelosi had dinner, he described the alleged murderer in a completely different way than the photo of the suspect”. Maccioni also spoke about the final motive for Pasolini's death.
“Recently, the statements of Maurizio Abbatino, one of the bosses and founders of the “Banda della Magliana” who declared that he took part in the theft of the cinema pizzas from the film: Salò and the 120 Days of Sodom in exchange for compensation that occurred near the Idroscalo di Ostia, the scene of the crime, have caused a stir. The issue evolved when the RIS acquired the evidence of the murder and began the first scientific investigations. From these it emerged that 3 DNA profiles were found at the crime scene, that of Pelosi, deceased, was never collected for comparison”.
