A two-thousand-year-long journey, through mysteries and secrets, crypts and cloisters, shadows and love stories that ended in blood, to reconstruct the history of Neapolitan sweets.
The debut of Andar per misteri…e dolci segreti, the new show by Annamaria Russo, is scheduled for Saturday 18 March 2023 at 21.00:19 pm (repeated on Sunday XNUMX), in the spaces of the Pozzo and the Pendolo Teatro in Naples, which will see Rosaria De Cicco, Marianita Carfora, Sonia De Rosa, Andrea De Rosa, Marco Palumbo and Gennaro Monti, who also signs the music, on stage.
Presented and promoted by the same Neapolitan stage, this show represents another piece of the project to recover the historical memory of our city, which, for years, the hall of Piazza San Domenico has been committed to carrying forward.
Naples is a city born under the sign of love, erected on the tomb of a siren struck dead in her pride by a haughty man. A legendary land with a geography designed by love, our city, in history and in fairy tales, is confirmed over the centuries as the cradle of great magic, daughters of passion.
Even the fragrant sweets with spicy scents that invade the alleys and squares at dawn seem incapable of escaping romance and passion. Behind every local delight there are heartbreaking or cruel stories, consumed in the noble or popular setting of magical Partenope.
"The desire to collect and jealously guard words – Annamaria Russo underlines – the voices and smells sedimented over the centuries between alleys, squares and buildings, the desire to redeem from oblivion the infinite theory of accents and suggestions that make the city of Partenope unique, gave rise, years ago, to one of the projects to which we are most attached, and which today is enriched with a new chapter: giving voice and body to memory through the theater”.
In Naples there is no character, street or story that is not mixed with a pinch of the incredible. This aura of magic that breathes in the historical memory of our city does not even escape the sweet preparations that Neapolitans proudly claim paternity of.
Putting together tales of a distant past, those kneaded with magic and history, with wisdom and superstition, represents a precious legacy, a treasure that risks being lost. One word after another, one shiver after another, the stories, the thousand stories of yesterday, those never written, those that for centuries from house to house, from grandmother to grandmother, have been preserved intact and stainless, are disappearing, and with them a piece of the past, the sense of identity and belonging.
They are fantastic stories written with the scents, the thousand scents of Naples for a book that we would like to never stop reading.
