They reject without appeal the new service plan prepared by the Autonomous Volturno Authority for the lines of the Circumvesuviana.

"We did not have to wait for the first day of the much-heralded experiment. We did it at the time of the presentation press conference, we repeat it today with the exercise underway."

This is what the spokesperson of the commuters group "No to cutting Circumvesuviana trains", Enzo Ciniglio, and the spokesperson of the Facebook group "Pendolari Circumvesuviana-Eav", Salvatore Ferrara, claim, who in a note highlight how for them "this operation must be stopped, because it invests the resources of the service contract in an unfair way, because it transforms a line, the Naples-Sorrento, takes it away from thousands of commuters, putting it at the service of tourist interests despite the fact that a dedicated service, the Campania Express, paid for by the Region with extra funds, is already planned".

And again: "The summer timetable should be rejected because it closes a line, the Naples-Madonnelle-San Giorgio, and eliminates the Naples-Pomigliano; because it extends the frequency on the Baiano, Sarno and Sorrento lines. This is a political choice that humiliates all travelers. On the eve of the increase in local public transport fares in Campania, Eav and the Region are cutting trips on the Vesuvian lines".

"Today there were almost physiological disruptions - they continue - delays strangely for a long time not reported on the official Eav page, but this really matters little: what matters instead is that it was decided to indulge someone's interests by sacrificing others. Local public transport cannot be transformed into a service on demand".

"The result of the new operating model on the Vesuvian lines, from the first data, appears positive: punctuality and travel times are improving."

This is supported by the Ente Autonomo Volturno, which goes against the trend of what was supported by the majority of users who today used the Circumvesuviana for their travel, in particular along the route from Naples to Torre Annunziata.

In a note it explains that "punctuality has improved significantly, particularly on the Naples-Sorrento line (going from an average delay of fifteen minutes in recent weeks to an average delay of two minutes), and the 50 new shuttles established between Naples and Torre Annunziata have all been on time".

Eav also emphasizes that, despite having seen a significant influx of tourists, at the moment there have been no critical issues of overcrowding on any train. "Even the transfer at Torre Annunziata for users coming from or going to the Vesuvian municipalities (which according to Eav represent 5-6% of the total users) is contained in 5-6 minutes, an absolutely acceptable time".

"As we have repeated several times - the Autonomous Volturno Authority defends itself - the structural problems will continue to exist, while waiting for the next investments (doubling, railway signalling, new trains arriving), but with the new model they will be more manageable, reducing the induced delays.

Of course, it will take several days to get users used to changing their habits and also to manage a series of problems that are evident in practice. We believe it is clear to everyone that Eav is called upon to manage an emergency situation, because in the face of a rapidly growing demand, we have trains that are over 50 years old and with obligations to reduce speed from 90 to 70 km/h”.
