“The new shift system at the Stellantis plant in Pomigliano d'Arco to meet the demands of Panda, Alfa Romeo Tonale and Hornet Dodge, can allow for total saturation of the workforce through the definitive elimination of social safety nets at the next scheduled deadline”.
This is what the general secretary and automotive coordinator of the FIM of Naples, Biagio Trapani and Aniello Guarino, stated in a note, underlining that the Stellantis plant in Pomigliano d'Arco “is in a position to secure its future with the assignment of new models”.
“The union – they continued – is ready to face even challenging challenges with the Stellantis group with good and positive trade union relations, when these have as their objective investments, positive prospects for factories and employment.
We are facing a new era, and in fact we will be able to bury the social safety nets by saturating the workforce. To cope with the new shift system with the goal of producing over 1000 cars per day, today over 1000 workers from other Italian plants of the group, such as Pratola Serra, Cassino and in particular from Melfi, work at Giambattista Vico.
We are certain that the skills and abilities of the GB Vico workforce are capable of facing the difficulties that this new work organization will require”. Trapani and Guarino, finally, announced that “FIM will decisively monitor Stellantis' future industrial choices and plans to avoid repercussions”.
“Naples and the South – they concluded – they have already paid too high a price in these years, but above all the workers of Pomigliano have always responded positively to the challenges overcoming all the obstacles, and even today they continue to demonstrate to the new Stellantis company, that Giambattista Vico is in a position to secure the future with the assignment of new models”.
