A 37 year old originally from Villaricca was caught with a van while he was preparing to dump asbestos material in the countryside of giuglianese.
The man was reported for unauthorized waste management activities. An army patrol operating as part of the operation Safe Roads-Terra dei fuochi intervened on site and then alerted the Guardia di Finanza command of Giugliano in Campania.
The vehicle carrying approximately 4 quintals of construction waste material consisting of asbestos-containing fibre cement and corrugated boards was also seized. In the meantime, investigations are underway to trace the illegal waste disposal chain and identify additional culprits.
During the month of August, the control system, with inter-force activities and mixed army-local police patrols, was further strengthened with four action days carried out between Santa Maria Capua Vetere, Caserta, Marano and the Nola area. Extraordinary controls against illegal disposal were also carried out in Castel Volturno, Arienzo, Ponticelli and Casalnuovo di Napoli.
