On the occasion of the first two days of the Serie A Tim 2023/2024, the Alloy Serie A promotes, for the fourth season, its awareness campaign against audiovisual piracy “#Stopiracy – Piracy is killing football”. The Fapav/Ipsos survey relating to 2022 shows that the piracy problem has reached an impressive size with 345 million total acts of piracy carried out in one year in Italy (30 million more than in 2021).
As for the perpetrators of the crimes, it turns out that 81% are aware that piracy is a crime, but a good 50% of pirates do not believe it is likely that they will be discovered and punished. An interesting fact concerns users who have come into contact with blocked sites: one in two (49%) has converted to legal sources. To combat illegal streaming of live sports content and raise awareness among end users of the associated risks, the video spot of the initiative will be broadcast on giant screens before the match of all matches in the next championship, while during the first and second day matches, a dedicated TV graphic will be broadcast at the time of the draw for the pitch between the two captains and will appear as an overlay after each goal.
“The data demonstrate that every action of contrast and deterrence is fundamental, for this reason our commitment to this battle continues without stopping, which has become – finally – a battle for all after the approval, unanimously in both the Chamber and the Senate, of the Law against piracy - he has declared Luigi De Servant, CEO of Lega Serie A – from this season, thanks to the valuable work of Agcom, it will be possible to quickly and effectively identify and block the addresses dedicated to illicit activity and therefore severely punish those guilty of these criminal acts”.
