In recent days, the Guardia di Finanza of the Provincial Command of Benevento, as part of the institutional services aimed at economic control of the territory on the Strada Statale 372, seized approximately 60 liters of grappa from two individuals of Albanian origin on board a van.
In particular, two patrols of soldiers from the Benevento Group and the Solopaca Tenancy checked a van, with two Albanian citizens on board, which was transporting numerous plastic bottles and cans containing a liquid substance.
The aforementioned individuals were unable to show the operating military the documentation relating to the transport of the goods. For this reason, a more thorough examination was carried out on the liquid contained within the containers found, which appeared clear and colourless. In particular, it emerged, also due to the typical smell of a liqueur drink, that it was grappa.
Given that the containers did not have the State stamp, therefore in total tax evasion and that no document was produced to prove either their quality or the payment of the excise duty, the military seized approximately sixty liters of grappa and reported the two Albanian citizens to the Public Prosecutor's Office of Benevento.
The operations conducted demonstrate the vigilant and constant attention of the Guardia di Finanza to guarantee the payment of taxes and the correct destination of food products.
In particular, it is highlighted that liquorous substances can be toxic and harmful to human health if, in the event of incorrect distillation, methanol can be generated. It is represented that the subjects reported to the Judicial Authority are, at present, people under preliminary investigations and therefore presumed innocent until a final sentence.
