Since "a special law is expected for the Phlegraean bradyseism, which is an immanent phenomenon - whose current crisis could last for decades, having begun in 1969 - the insurance method, supported by the State, is the only useful system for living with it".
Roberto Gerundo, councilor for Territorial Government of the Municipality of Giugliano in Campania, at the end of the hearing in the Environment Commission of the Chamber regarding the phenomenon of bradyseism and seismic risk in the Campi Flegrei.
Gerundo recalled that this occurs “in countries where territorial risk is inherent”, where “insurance forms are active to protect against damages that investors and, more generally, citizens who own property”.
"I realize - he explained - that this method escapes the consolidated mechanisms of recovery after natural disasters that have always been practiced in Italy, with the widespread pathologies that it entails, often welcomed by the Italian political system. I hope that, this time, we can think programmatically and not only in an emergency about the future of the Campi Flegrei".
