Nine employees of the Eav, the company that controls Circumvesuviana, Cumana, Circumflegrea and Metrocampania, were fired for exchanging badges to mark their presence in the office.
The nine workers, all employed at the Porta Nolana offices in Naples, were suspended from service over a year ago, when the first complaint came in. In fact, Eav had hired an investigative agency to check that its employees were actually at work and did nothing else after clocking in.
According to investigators, the nine employees had made an agreement to exchange time cards and ensure that only one person would clock in for the others.
The decision to dismiss was taken by the Eav disciplinary commission, which closed the investigation that lasted several months. The workers will now be able to take legal action to obtain rehabilitation.
The dismissal of the nine employees is a sensational case, especially if we consider that it concerns nine people. It is the harshest punishment ever inflicted by Eav for such behavior.
In the past, the company has fired an employee for assaulting a manager and two other employees for falsifying time cards to declare overtime work that was never performed.
The decision to dismiss him comes just as the president of Eav, Umberto De Gregorio, has reportedly ended up under the scrutiny of the Guardia di Finanza.
