The measure was issued following investigations conducted by the Flying Squad in relation to the murder of a 19-year-old that occurred during the night of March 20, 2023 in Via Caracciolo. The investigations carried out allowed to ascertain that near a chalet located in Via Caracciolo two groups of young people had clashed following an argument for trivial reasons. One of the participants in the argument, identified as Francesco Pio Valda, while moving away from the place allegedly pulled out a gun and fired several gunshots, one of which killed the young nineteen-year-old who was found to be totally unrelated to the incident.
For this event, Valda was arrested on March 21st in execution of a detention order issued by the District Anti-Mafia Directorate. Valda is the son of Ciro, affiliated with the Cuccaro Clan and killed in a Camorra ambush in 2013. Subsequent investigative activities have brought to light elements against the above-mentioned recipients who, in various capacities, after the murder was committed, helped the perpetrator to elude investigations, including by concealing the firearm.
