Initiatives plan for over 65s from December to May: visits to Matera and Rome and a stay in Ischia
“Social policies are an important element of our administration and within social policies, assistance and services for the elderly represent a fundamental piece”. This is the comment of the mayor Pasquale By Lauro to the presentation of the public notice for socio-tourist activities for over 65s Boscoreale.
“This is not a simple climate stay that ends in a few days – explains the mayor – but a complex program that will allow about 40 people to have different tourist experiences from December 2023 to May 2024. It is a program of activities completely free of charge thanks to the work carried out by this administration that has recovered resources promptly diverted to help seniors”.
The program includes a trip to Matera on December 16, a tourist visit to an Italian art city in February and, finally, a long weekend in Ischia in May.
"I am happy for the start of this project. It is an activity that I strongly wanted even before receiving the social policies from Mayor Di Lauro" says the councilor for social policies Ida Trito. All citizens residing in can submit the application Boscoreale who are at least 65 years old. For those over 75, it is necessary to attach to the application a medical certificate attesting to self-sufficiency and physical and mental fitness.
"We often mistakenly define those over 65 as elderly. In reality, these are citizens who discover a new youth during their third age. At that age, however, it can happen that they are alone, either because they are widowed or because their children are far away and they are dealing with their children and family. These initiatives - explains Councilor Trito - allow for socialization, the birth of friendships and relationships that can then continue in the city."
