A car overturned this morning at dawn on Via Caravaggio, in the Fuorigrotta neighborhood of Naples. The accident occurred at number 168.
The roar of the impact woke up the residents of the area, who immediately alerted the police. The firefighters intervened on the scene, extracting the driver from the twisted metal of the passenger compartment.
The man, a 25-year-old, was taken to the hospital with a yellow code. His condition is not serious.
Francesco, a resident of the area who lives right in front of the accident site, tells the story. “It’s the second episode in a year,” Francesco explains. “Last summer, in the exact same spot, another car overturned. On this road, those who drive cars and motorbikes speed by as if they were on a racetrack.
It's the second episode in a year
We don't even feel safe crossing the street anymore. It's a situation that puts everyone's safety at risk, including animals. There's a feline colony nearby and several cats have been hit in recent months."
“Speed bumps must be installed immediately before the irreparable happens”, declared Francesco Emilio Borrelli, MP of the Green-Left alliance.
“There are too many people who, while driving, do not respect the most basic rules of the highway code and mistake the streets of Naples for racetracks on which to race at crazy speeds. Our city has already mourned too many deaths due to road criminals, we cannot allow this list to become even longer”.
Borrelli: “Install the deterrents”
“The deterrents installed along the seafront are bearing fruit,” added Borrelli. “Provision should also be made for Via Caravaggio and for all the dangerous roads where these scoundrels speed by with contempt for their safety and that of others. At the same time, severe penalties are needed for road criminals who should not be allowed to drive again”.
