PERGOLESI'S STABAT MATER MONDAY IN NAPLES IN THE CHURCH OF CARUSO
Sublime and unattainable. This is how Rossini defined Giovan Battista Pergolesi's Stabat Mater. A masterpiece of sacred music, on a text by Jacopone da Todi, which will be performed Monday 18 December at 19.30pm in the Church of Saints John and Paul in Naples.
The concert, organized by the Fondazione Campania dei Festival together with the Associazione Casa Museo Enrico Caruso, is directed by maestro Ivano Caiazza, who supervised the revision of the autograph.
A composition of great emotional impact, which sees the musicians of “La Real Cappella di Napoli” on stage, the soprano Maria Grazia Schiavo and the mezzo-soprano Sofia Tumanyan.
The event is part of “FORM ART-Enrico Caruso-music: opera, popular and crafts”, the project, funded by the Campania Region, which is hosted in the Church of Saints Giovanni and Paolo, a few steps from the birthplace of the famous tenor, and finds concrete implementation, with the teaching of Renato Salvetti and Stefania Rinaldi, thanks to the artistic direction of Alessio Vlad, director of the Ravello Foundation, in agreement with the Campania dei Festival Foundation directed by Ruggero Cappuccio.
