Tomorrow, Saturday 24 February, at 21.00 pm, at the Bolivar theatre (Via Bartolomeo Caracciolo detto Carafa, 30), comes “The Bank – American&West Coast Music.
On stage will be: Massimo Curcio (vocals, electric guitar, acoustic guitar) Marco Francini (vocals, acoustic guitar), Marco Pierno (vocals, keyboard, lap steel guitar) and Roberto Trenca (vocals, electric guitar, acoustic guitar) and Marco Di Palo (vocals, bass), Carlo Di Gennaro (drums) Special guest Brunella Selo (vocals) Special guest Riccardo Veno (vocals, guitar, sax). The evening will be presented by Gino Aveta, Rai author.
The band preserves the memory of the musical, creative and artistic movement born in the 70s, made of Blues Rock, West Coast, Country, Ballad and many other wonderful visions of that historical period, expressing with passion and attention to detail the music of the great names who were absolute protagonists: Crosby, Still, Nash & Young, Jackson Browne, Eagles, America, JJ Cale, Steve Miller Band, Bob Dylan, James Taylor… “The Bank” retraces Route 66 “The great Mother Road” that connects Chicago with Los Angeles and therefore California that has always represented, in the collective imagination of the world, the freedom and the dream of many generations. The analog sound, the creative energy, the social aspect are at the base of the American language of the 60s and 70s. In the encounter between psychedelia and lightness “The Bank” wants to give its artistic contribution to the diffusion of this music so important for the history of all time.
The group is made up of six professionals, each of whom has years of experience working in the national and international music scene:
Massimo Curcio, singer, author, guitarist and former leader of SEI SEI SEI, a historic rock band of the Neapolitan new wave of the 80s with Maurizio Capone and Marco Gesualdi. He has collaborated with Pino Daniele, Salvatore Piscicelli, Renzo Arbore, Gegè Telesforo.
Marco Francini, singer, songwriter, guitarist, winner of the Musicultura Award in '93 and '95, winner of the Piedigrotta Festival in 2007 and 2008, participated in The Voice Senior Rai 1. He has worked with Silvio Orlando, Antonella Stefanucci, Stefania Sandrelli, Cristina Donadio, Tinto Brass, Roberto De Simone, Edoardo Bennato, Mario Martone.
Roberto Trenca, guitarist, enthusiast and scholar of Andean music, he worked with the group Inti illimani and in stable collaboration with the Chilean singer-songwriter Isabel Parra. He worked with several Italian and Neapolitan artists such as Brunella Selo, Daniele Sepe, Mimmo Maglionco, Fausta Vetere, Francesco Guccini, Mimmo Locasciulli.
Mark Of Palo, bass player, has a mixed inspiration: from classical music to the Beatles, from Indian ragas to Balkan rhythms, from Orphic songs to villanelles. He was co-founder of numerous bands including Le Loup Garou and Ringe Ringe Raja. He played with Fausto Cigliano, Gipo Farassino, Tony Cercola and poets in Audiobox RAI 3, Farahnaith RAI 2, acrobats of the Circo de la Sombra in Madrid.
Marco Pierno, guitarist, multi-instrumentalist, protagonist of the Neapolitan new wave of the 80s with various Rock-Bands: Les Bandards, Foux, Anthra, Degrado, Blah; at the same time he continued his classical studies in piano and composition. He lived in California for twenty years where he worked as a musical composer for films and TV.
Charles DiGennaro, active since the 95s as a drummer, live and recording collaborations: Andreasbanda, Horacio Duran, Le Loup Garou, Illachime Quartet, Gianni Lamagna, Alessio Arena, Gnut, La Maschera, Luca Rossi, Antonio Annona, Nelson. Winner of the Musicultura award with Andreasbanda in '2012 and with Alessio Arena in XNUMX. Present in the shortlist for best original song for the David di Donatello with the song Il Ladro Di Giorni by Nelson & Gnut.
