In the neighborhood Vomero, in via Morghen, a massive sinkhole occurred which swallowed up two cars and led to the evacuation of a nearby building.
The causes of the accident are likely to be attributed to the probable breakage of the underground pipes, which caused a sudden flooding of the ground floor.
The situation was promptly managed by the Fire Brigade teams, who intervened shortly before 5am on 21 February.
This is not the first time that the area has been hit by similar problems. A few days ago, in fact, the intervention of the Fire Department and Civil Engineering Department was necessary due to water infiltrations that had put the stability of a nearby building at risk, forcing the evacuation of 12 families.
During the accident, one injured person was taken to the hospital, but fortunately his injuries are not in danger of life.
Building with 12 families evacuated
The residents of the building affected by the sinkhole promptly sought refuge on the upper floors to save themselves from the sudden flood.
The situation is constantly monitored by the competent authorities. On site are firefighters, ABC technicians, Naples municipal police and law enforcement.
It was urgently necessary to interrupt the water service in the area between Piazza Vanvitelli and S.Martino. At the moment, checks are underway on the state of the systems to determine the restoration times. This was reported by Abc.
