The Minister of Culture, Gennaro Sangiuliano, during the presentation of the seventh edition of “Pompeii theatrum mundi”, underlined the importance of the encounter between cultural heritage and theatrical art.
The theater festival will take place from June 13 to July 13 at the Teatro Grande del Parco Archeologico, the result of the collaboration between the Teatro di Napoli – Teatro Nazionale and the Parco Archeologico di Pompei. Culture, according to the minister, represents a unifying element that allows different artistic expressions and points of view to be connected.
The G7 Culture event in Pompeii will be an opportunity to celebrate this union and enhance the rich historical and artistic heritage of the area. Pompeii is therefore preparing to become the stage for an important cultural event of international scope, which promises to enhance the beauty and historical importance of the archaeological site.
“Pompeii is among the most extraordinary archaeological sites in the world, as demonstrated by the numbers we recorded at Easter and Easter Monday”, added Sangiuliano who then underlined: “In the program there are important works in which we find the essence of Western culture that remind us of the origins of Western civilization that was born in the Greco-Roman world. And then there is a great master like Emilio Isgrò who I have appreciated for many other important creations, I will be curious to see what he will do”.
“Pompeii, Sangiuliano then recalled, in September it will host the opening event of the G7 of culture that we have expanded to other nations because we will invite Brazil, India, Spain and there will certainly be UNESCO. Benedetto Croce, who was very attentive to the theater, tells us that history is always a contemporary fact because in history there is our DNA, our origins. So this initiative is very welcome and we will continue to support it as we support many other initiatives”.
