As if the sporting troubles at Roland Garros were not enough, French public opinion was divided on Sniffy, the white energizing powder, which is inhaled up the nose, has no difference from cocaine in appearance, but has the typical ingredients of most energy drinks. This makes it perfectly legal.
Energizing white powder to sniff
On Tik Tok, several influencers recommend it to students and professionals of legal age to enjoy an instant energy boost. You inhale, the “wow” effect is immediate and lasts for twenty/thirty minutes.
The French Ministry of Health is trying to ban its sale, and Minister Valletoux called it “rubbish” in an interview with franceinfo. In addition to the government, French tobacconists have also expressed concerns, and several businesses have refused to sell the product.
The French producer
The French company from Marseille that has been producing it since 2023 does not seem particularly worried, but recommends not exceeding the daily dose and confirms that the composition of the product is a mix of caffeine, taurine and creatine made tasty by fruity aromas. The same experts underline that the side effects of abuse are similar to those that can be had by overdoing it with energy drinks: arrhythmia, high blood pressure, sweating and tremors.
Online sales in Italy of Sniffy
The method of intake through a straw makes the association with the illegal white powder inevitable and the fear that in the emulation one will move on to something heavier is highlighted by many educators. It will soon be available for online shopping in Italy and who knows, maybe it will disturb the sleep of those who these days are also trying to make the consumption of light cannabis illegal.
Meanwhile Antonella Soldo, spokesperson for BetterLegal, has deposited 55.000 signatures in the Senate for the popular initiative bill “Io Coltivo” which calls for the legalization of domestic cultivation of cannabis.
