There are 21 administrative sanctions, for a total amount of over 3 thousand Euros, imposed by the Forestry Carabinieri to prevent and reduce the risk of...fire forests in the province of Salerno.
Among the failure to implement prevention measures, the creation of protection strips between residential areas and forests, reported in the "declaration of a state of serious danger for forest fires" of the Campania region, and the lighting of fires - a practice always prohibited in summer - even in risk areas, susceptible to expanding into wooded areas, were contested.Significant, as stated in a note from the Arma, is the investigative effort put in place by the Forestry units, specialized in identifying traces left by fire, which has allowed the identification of the presumed responsible parties on the occasion of five forest fires that developed in different areas of the province: Amalfi Coast, Valle dell'Irno, Monti Picentini, Vallo di Diano, Cava de' Tirreni. In recent days, the careful surveillance of the wooded areas by the Carabinieri Forestry has allowed thearrest a 26 year old caught red-handed for arson in the area of Atena Lucana.
Given the frequency of cases in which the fire developed following the cleaning of agricultural land through the practice of burning plant residues, notoriously prohibited during the period of serious danger, the note "recommends maximum attention in respecting the behaviors provided for in the mayoral ordinances of civil protection issued to reduce the risk of fire and in reporting any start of fire to the public utility number 1515 of the Carabinieri".
