An Air Campania bus driver, while working on the Aversa-Mondragone line in the Caserta area, was attacked after asking two passengers not to smoke inside the vehicle.
According to the Usb Campania union, the attackers have not yet been identified.
L'driver, due to the attack, had to interrupt the service to receive medical attention. Transported by ambulance to the emergency room, he was discharged with a prognosis of three days.
The union reports an increase in violence on public transport, despite promises of greater control and prevention. Marco Sansone and Adolfo Vallini of the USB underline how the job of a driver is not only exhausting and among the most stressful, but also dangerous.
They expressed solidarity with the driver, wishing him a speedy recovery, and asked the Prefecture of Naples to speed up discussions for a safety protocol that protects both staff and users of local public transport.
