The patrols, 15 in total, of the Marcianise Carabinieri Company, with the support of the canine units of the Sarno Carabinieri Unit and the personnel of the Caserta Labour Inspectorate Carabinieri Unit, operated from late yesterday afternoon until the early hours of today.
The targeted checks were concentrated on the centres of Orta di Atella and Sant'Arpino in the province of Caserta.
During this extraordinary service, involving 45 soldiers, designed to prevent and combat predatory crimes and drug trafficking, the forces were deployed both in residential areas and along the main roads connecting the two municipalities with Naples and Caserta.
Under the leadership of Captain Daniele Petruccelli, commander of the Marcianise Company, the Carabinieri reported four people. Two were stopped in Orta di Atella for having committed a theft in a supermarket of Capodrise, stealing food and alcohol for over 300 euros. The goods were recovered and returned.
Another couple from Caserta was caught in Succivo with a suspicious attitude. During the check, they were found with doses of cocaine and 4475 euros in cash, with no explanation as to where the money came from. Drugs and money were seized and the couple reported for possession for the purpose of dealing.
In addition, three house searches were conducted to search for drugs and weapons, and checks were carried out in bars and shops in Orta di Atella to verify compliance with labor laws.
