The court of Naples sentenced Dr. Francesco Pignatelli, a cardiovascular surgeon, to one year and one month of imprisonment with conditional suspension of the sentence, in addition to compensation to be defined in civil proceedings.
The doctor ended up on trial for having closed the department of the Ospedale del Mare, where he had just become head physician, to participate in a party organized on July 8, 2018 on the occasion of his appointment.
The sentence was pronounced by the single judge of the seventh criminal section last weekend. The ASL Napoli 1 Centro has joined the trial as a civil party. Dr. Pignatelli he was later fired.
