NAPLES - “The future of Campania will be decided in Napoli, not in Rome. There are national politicians who don't even know how to get here, nor do they know our problems or think about the future of our children." With these words the President of the Campania Region, Vincenzo De Luca, launched a harsh attack on national politics, speaking at the Avanti party in Pomigliano d'Arco.
De Luca criticized the absence of a real center-left coalition, declaring that "the situation is worse than 2022, and in Rome they pretend to decide the fate of Campania without knowing it. Only the PSI maintains its own historical autonomy; we must remain reformists at least".
On the subject of security, the governor highlighted what he considers a lack of attention on the part of the historical left, declaring that "security does not coincide with repression, but with the problems of the new generations. It has become a fundamental and primary human necessity, yet it is completely absent from the programs of a center-left alternative to the national government."
De Luca then addressed the issue of elections and the functioning of Italian politics, criticizing the system that allows parliamentarians who are not directly elected by citizens to enter Parliament: "Now even those who are not elected can become a deputy or senator, thanks to a perverse logic that creates only monocratic powers. But the only monocratic power is that of the Pope - and even he must be careful. A regional president, on the other hand, can be distrusted and go home tomorrow".
Finally, De Luca he accused the political leaders in Rome of acting only to protect their own positions: "They have invented absurdities to justify a gigantic hypocrisy. In Rome, the ruling groups are only interested in how to protect their seats for the next elections."
