La Guardia di Finanza has launched an investigation into an official of the Common Battipaglia, accused of having tampered with the attendance detection system to simulate work shifts that were never carried out. The man, now at the centre of the investigation, risks being charged with aggravated scam to the detriment of the public administration.
The checks of the Yellow Flames would have brought to light dozens of suspicious episodes. According to the reconstruction, the employee would have exploited access to the telematic portal to register his presence at work, without ever physically stamping the card. The incriminating stampings would mainly concern afternoon shifts, during which the official would never have gone to the office.
The matter is further complicated because, in this way, the employee would not only have falsified his presence, but would also have accrued the right to food stamps intended for those who work all day. A practice that, if confirmed, would constitute an illicit act to the detriment of public coffers.
The anomalies emerged thanks to cross-checks carried out by other municipal officials, who, by accessing the management platform, would have noticed anomalous markings, recorded at apparently fictitious entry and exit times. Now the investigation will have to establish the actual extent of the contested behaviors and verify whether there have been previous similar episodes. In the meantime, the official risks serious consequences on the judicial and disciplinary level.
