Naples, girl beaten and kidnapped on Christmas day: attacker already under house arrest

Shocking images of a brutal attack suffered by a 22-year-old from Naples on Christmas Day were sent to the deputy of the Green Left Alliance, Francesco Emilio Borrelli. The forwarders were some acquaintances of the victim, concerned about the choice to assign the arrest to the 23-year-old ex-boyfriend, the perpetrator of the violent act.

The video shows a shocking sequence: slaps, punches and a kick to the back of the head inflicted on the young woman kneeling and defenseless, with her face and head bloodied. The footage, taken by the attacker himself, seems to have been used to further intimidate his ex-partner and her family, but now it represents crucial evidence against him.

The attacker allegedly lured the girl into a trap under the pretext of a clarifying meeting, then kidnapped her and attack her brutally in an isolated place. According to reconstructions, the victim was held prisoner for two days in a hotel, where the man allegedly provided false documents. The episode ended with the girl being returned to her grandparents, who were ordered to lie about the causes of her injuries.

The girl's family's concerns

Deputy Borrelli expressed strong indignation: “I am absolutely perplexed by the decision to place under house arrest a young man who has demonstrated such violence and criminal planning skills. He kidnapped and mercilessly beat his ex-girlfriend, filming the whole thing with his cell phone. I wonder what else a criminal has to do to deserve prison.”

Borrelli also called for more severe measures for the aggressor and stressed the need to protect the victim: “I wish the young woman a speedy recovery, but she must not be left alone. I ask for maximum attention to prevent new episodes of violence while the aggressor is under house arrest.”

The episode reignites the debate on the management of cases of gender violence and the effectiveness of precautionary measures.
