The story, which is among the most brutal in recent news, began on Christmas night, outside the victim's house. The young man, unable to accept the end of the relationship that occurred in early December, followed her to the historic center of Naples, where she was staying with a friend. With insistence and pressure, he managed to convince her to meet him.
A sick love turned into a nightmare. On Christmas night, while the city was preparing for the celebrations, she, a young woman of 22, was dragged into a vortex of violence unheard of.
It all started with obsessive stalking. He, her ex, couldn't accept the end of their relationship and followed her to a friend's house. After a night spent bombarding her with messages, he convinced her to meet him. A fatal mistake.
The attack on Vesuvius
Their “last meeting” took place in the panoramic area of the Vesuvius Park, a place that in the past had been the backdrop to the couple’s happy moments. But that night the memory of those days was erased by the 23-year-old’s fury. After seeing a notification arrive on the young woman’s cell phone, the man snatched it from her hands and destroyed it. Then he attacked her with unprecedented violence: kicks, punches, bites. He filmed everything with his phone, immortalizing the girl’s swollen face, until he kicked her in the back of the head while she was on the ground.
Imprisonment in hotel
Not content, the attacker forced the young woman to follow him. They stopped at a pharmacy in Secondigliano to buy ointments and ice for the bruises, before heading to a hotel in Qualiano. Here, the girl was held captive until the morning of December 26, when she managed to convince him to let her go with a pretext.
The complaint and the arrest
Back in Naples with her grandparents, the victim initially lied about the causes of her injuries for fear of further reprisals. Only the intervention of her mother brought out the truth. Hospitalized at the CTO in Capodimonte with a prognosis of 40 days, she found the courage to tell everything to the Carabinieri, who immediately began the investigation.
In the meantime, the 23-year-old has fled, but the Carabinieri find the car that was left in via Cesare Rosaroll at around 6 a.m. on December 27. The military personnel – in plain clothes – lie in wait for hours near the vehicle, waiting for a hand to open the door. In the meantime, a search is being launched for the man, who may have taken a train, hidden in a B&B, or found refuge at a friend's house.
The search never stopped and finally on the evening of December 30th the turning point came when the victim received very long delirious messages from fake social profiles.
The Carabinieri found the 23-year-old in a B&B in Agnano where he had hidden using an identity document of a friend of his, the latter was reported.
The arrested man was transferred to prison at the disposal of the Neapolitan judicial authority of the fourth section, specialized in crimes of gender violence coordinated by the deputy prosecutor Raffaello Falcone who followed the investigations step by step and who had ordered and had the Mobile Angel device delivered to the victim.
A cry against violence
The man, now in prison, is accused of kidnapping, grievous bodily harm and stalking. The victim, already tried in body and soul, was assigned a Mobile Angel device for her safety. The story, emblem of a "sick love", turns the spotlight back on the urgency of fighting gender violence, a plague that knows no respite, not even on holidays.
