The Musap – Museo Artistico Politecnico di Napoli will host a significant event on Monday, March 3, as part of the “Dialect Meetings.” The event, organized by the Fondazione Campania dei Festival and the Scientific Committee for the Safeguarding and Promotion of Neapolitan Linguistic Heritage, will explore Italian theatrical languages through the dramaturgy of Ruggero Cappuccio.
A Journey into Theatrical Languages
The event, entitled “The Languages of the Theater,” will offer a review of Ruggero Cappuccio’s works, including “Desideri mortali,” “Oedipus at Colonus,” and “Il sorriso di San Giovanni.” These works will form the basis of the theatrical score presented in the meeting, emphasizing the linguistic diversity of Italian dialects.
The Role of the Actor and the Dialect
Claudio Di Palma, a talented actor, will read selected passages from the operas, creating a theatrical symphony that exalts the Neapolitan, Sicilian and Venetian dialects. Ruggero Cappuccio himself will intervene to emphasize the importance of these dialects as an integral part of the Italian cultural heritage. The appointment promises to be a unique experience to explore the interaction between different theatrical linguistic expressions, offering a broader vision of the cultural richness of Italian theater.
The “Dialect Meetings” itinerary will continue until May 26th and the complete calendar is available on the website fondazionecampaniadeifestival.it.
