But it is also a difficult place, which has caused me pain and made me commit terrible mistakes, all of which I have paid dearly.
This is why I chose to go and live in another neighborhood: staying there would have destroyed me completely and my three children paid the price. I had Raimondo when I was 13 and he was raised by my family: only a few years ago he called me mom and made me a grandmother; Rosario is 25 and is expecting a baby with his girlfriend; and Checco, the one who suffered the most because I had him in my darkest period, is 17 and is being followed by the institutions for my past mistakes”.

De Crescenzo he also addressed the issue of his addictions, particularly to narcotics. “Twenty-seven years with that bad companion: cocaine. A prison I thought I would never get out of. But six years ago I said enough. My son Rosario saved me: he locked me in my room, he controlled me, he prevented me from self-destructing, he chained me to the bed with handcuffs just to keep me from going out to buy drugs. And he succeeded. I was reborn thanks to him and to faith”.
