Entrepreneur Luca Iannuzzi has announced a redevelopment project for the former Sant'Anna di Palazzo market, located in the Spanish Quarter of Naples.
Article Key Points
The goal is to transform the structure into an attractive hub for citizens and tourists, promoting Neapolitan excellence through street food, crafts, a cocktail bar and a theater school.
An ambitious redevelopment project
Iannuzzi, already known for the recovery of other historic spaces such as the ScottoJonno in the Galleria Principe di Napoli, was awarded the contract for the redevelopment and management of the market area for 12 years.
The project, which has received support from the municipal administration, involves a significant investment in the renovation of the building, designed in the 80s by architects Salvatore and Anna Buonaiuto Bisogni.
A mix of tradition and innovation
The new market will host an area dedicated to Neapolitan street food, local craft shops and a cocktail bar. The heart of the project will be a theater school, which will offer free courses to young people in the neighborhood and will liven up the spaces with improvised shows.
A modern agora for the city
The building, protected by the Superintendence for its architectural value, will be transformed into a modern agora, a meeting place and cultural exchange. The renovation will be supervised by the heirs of the architects Bisogni, the Federico II University and the designer Eugenio Tibaldi, who will take care of the layout of the spaces.
An opening to the neighborhood and the city
The project also includes the redevelopment of the outdoor spaces, with tables and chairs that will invite visitors to experience the atmosphere of the market. The goal is to create an open and welcoming place, which enhances Neapolitan traditions and becomes a point of reference for the neighborhood and the city.
