Naples - "The defense has demonstrated that Tony Colombo is not involved in the contested facts”. This is how the lawyer Alfredo Sorge, the lawyer of the neomelodic singer, commented on the outcome of the trial in an interview given to CRC, radio partner of SSC Napoli.
According to Sorge, the sentence should not surprise anyone who knows how justice works: "In Italy the process develops through successive phases, and the adversarial process between the parties is essential to arrive at a fair decision. Believing that the verdict is already written during the investigation is a cultural error."
The lawyer then underlined the media weight of precautionary measures, often capable of influencing public opinion even before a final judgment. “Unfortunately, constitutional culture is not widespread: one is guilty only after an irrevocable sentence. In the meantime, however, those who undergo a long judicial process pay a high price, especially if they work in the entertainment world, like Tony Colombo".
Sorge avoided commenting on other positions involved in the proceedings, focusing on his client: "We faced the trial calmly, with an attentive Public Prosecutor and a judge who guaranteed the full exercise of the rights of all parties. Analyzing the evidence, including chats, messages and wiretaps, we demonstrated with a sufficient margin of certainty that Colombo was not involved."
Finally, the lawyer highlighted the psychological and physical difficulties of a long period of detention, but said he was confident: "His young age and the awareness of his innocence will allow him to resume the path of success".
