Naples – He was caught stealing a backpack from a parked car and, after attempting to escape, was arrested by State Police officers at the end of a brief scuffle. It happened yesterday morning in Fuorigrotta, in via Corrado Barbagallo.
A 48-year-old Neapolitan with a specific criminal record for aggravated theft ended up in handcuffs. The man was noticed by a patrol from the General Prevention Office while, in a suspicious manner, he was peering inside a parked car. A few moments later, he broke the left rear deflector of the car and grabbed a backpack kept inside.
The officers intervened immediately. The thief tried to flee, but was caught and stopped after a brief but violent resistance. He was carrying the recently stolen backpack and some burglary tools.
The man was arrested on charges of aggravated theft, resisting arrest and assault on a public official. The stolen goods were returned to their rightful owner.
