Naples – A 49-year-old man, already known to law enforcement for specific precedents, was arrested by the State Police on charges of aggravated theft and resisting a public official.
The intervention of the agents of the Vicaria-Mercato Police Station began yesterday morning in via Carbonara, in the area of Porta Capuana, following the report of a theft in progress inside a private garage.
Arriving quickly on the scene, the police surprised the man inside the garage, intent on filling several bags with various stolen goods: scooters, bottles of wine and work tools.
Noticing the presence of the agents, the 49-year-old attempted a hasty escape, but was caught and blocked not without difficulty. During the search, he was found in possession of a screwdriver, presumably used to force the garage lock, the break-in of which was confirmed by the investigators.
The recovered stolen goods were immediately returned to their rightful owner, while the arrested person was taken to the police station for the usual procedures. The episode highlights the effectiveness of the State Police's territorial control in combating predatory crimes, ensuring a repeat offender is brought to justice.
