Cwide Flegrei, new escape routes and safer access: the protocol to strengthen the Naples ring road signed at MIT
ROME – Strengthening infrastructure and ensuring safer escape routes in the Campi Flegrei area. This is the objective of the memorandum of understanding signed today at the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport for the implementation of strategic interventions in the Municipality of Pozzuoli, with particular attention to the Naples Ring Road (A56), considered a fundamental artery in emergency plans for bradyseismic risk.
Present at the signing were the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure Matteo Salvini, the Minister for Civil Protection Nello Musumeci, the Undersecretary Tullio Ferrante, the Extraordinary Commissioner Fulvio Maria Soccodato, the Mayor of Pozzuoli Luigi Manzoni and the CEO of Tangenziale di Napoli SpA, Luigi Massa.
The agreement, part of the “First Program of interventions for the functionality of public infrastructures”, approved last February, provides for urgent interventions to improve safety and road management in case of emergency. The planned works include the completion of the Via Campana junction and the construction of a new access to the Tangenziale in the West direction from Via Cigliano.
The works will be designed and managed by Tangenziale di Napoli SpA, a company of the Autostrade per l'Italia Group, and financed entirely by the commissioner structure. The protocol also defines the operational and technical commitments between the parties involved.
A decisive step, the institutions underline, to improve the resilience of the territory and the safety of citizens in the face of possible calamitous events linked to the volcanic activity of the Phlegraean area.
