LSalernitana sinks in the series and does it in the worst possible way: defeated on the pitch 2-0 by Sampdoria which will probably become a 3-0 by default because the match was suspended in the 65th minute due to objects being thrown onto the pitch by the Granata fans.
To tell the truth, for Marino's team the match had already become complicated at the 38th minute of the first half with the goal of Coda. Then in the second half, the Neapolitan Giuseppe Sibilli took care of it after only 4 minutes to close in an almost definitive way with the goal of 2-0.
From that moment on, little or nothing was played because the intemperance of the Granata fans of the Siberiano curve began, throwing smoke bombs, bottles and stadium seats onto the pitch. The match was suspended in parts. Then the referee Doveri, after consulting the police chief of Salerno, decided to send the teams to the locker rooms without blowing the final whistle.
After more than 20 minutes the teams return to the pitch but once again there are firecrackers, smoke bombs and chairs and at that point Doveri blows the final whistle and sends the teams to the changing rooms for good.
For the Salernitana a very long suspension of the pitch and the return to Serie C are looming. For Sampdoria, however, the joy of having regained Serie B after the direct relegation to the championship thanks to the penalty and relegation of Brescia.
